As soon as I re-enabled Windows Deffender, updated it, performed a quick scan, i was able to actually launch the Windows Updates and fould 59 updates ready to dwonload and install. Sites like this are like good friends, show some love. MICROSOFT SUCKS!! Basically, whenever they tried to run a check for updates, they would get the following error message: Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. My 3 images I was working with all said that the directory was in use even after I stopped the service and rebooted to delete.
I'm sure that switching it off this way and then choosing any option that enables windows updates would have had the same effect. I AM SO FED UP! If using WSUS only, not much. I tried multiple fixes which did not work, but your solution worked like a charm.
Try to check for Updates again. Essentially nothing, you need to retry as often as necessary to catch all missing updates.
