I connected the eSATA-eSATA cable into the external case at one end and my PC's eSATA output port at the other. This is getting really aggravating, especially with the size and volume of files I back up with it. That particular card has either internal SATA connections or external eSATA connections selected by some jumpers. Be sure that the drive spins. Alternatively, it is also possible that the eSATA port on the motherboard had been unintentionally disabled in the BIOS. So I quickly tried it out there and it worked perfectly. Anyways, it works with a USB cable, so I'm waiting until my esata cables get delivered to see if the problem is my esata cable. I'm using onboard esata connection for my external disc but still when i turn it on after starting computer it doesn't detect it ? It does not seem to show up that way in the BIOS screens. Mine is a 2.5" enclosure with no power supply, I suspect I need to give it power via usb, AND connect it via eSata, and the only way to know that Most of the information above is just from memory, so there may be a few errors. The Lacie documentation says they are, but I have little faith in the drive documentation. However it does show in the 'safely remove' icon in the task bar... My motherboard doesn't have an eSATA port and the connector was the cheapest thing so I got that and it was working fine till now. Given its age and class, I'm guessing SATAI (1.5gbps).
